June 18: Chicago Cultural Center

Events on June 18th will include:

2:00 - 5:00 PM
Stroll through an indoor street fair of experiences and interaction with representatives from a wide range of cultural associations, educational groups, and organizations supporting refugees, immigrants, and New Americans. Enjoy displays of all types of arts while listening to Surabhi, one of Chicago's most exciting multi-cultural musical bands. Visit the Global Cafe to learn about international food and coffee.

3:00 - 5:00 PM
A theatrical presentation of the Sanctuary & Sustenance projections (20:00 minutes in length shown in rolling format) along with a brief presentation on Chicago's rich history of diversity.
(seating is limited and offered on a first come basis)

June 22: Daley Plaza

Celebrate 15 Years of World Refugee Day in Chicago at the World Refugee Day Committee event at Daley Plaza for a lunchtime cultural program including performances, artistic displays, speakers and resources that will showcase the collaborative talent among our vibrant refugee communities.

Hear from refugee residents about their experiences building new lives in our city! This is a great opportunity to learn more about what refugee communities bring to Chicago as well as ways you can be a better ally to refugees in your neighborhood.

July 8: Foster Beach World Refugee Day Picnic

This annual event kicks off with a soccer tournament and continues throughout the day. In addition to a sporting event you'll have an opportunity to explore new foods, many of which will be prepared by members of the refugee community, as they hope to share some of their favorite things with friends. Music from around the world will entertain guests and give them another glimpse at the many ways Chicago's diverse refugee community contributes to our culture. 

This event conclude with the annual "One Human Family" rally and march where we come together in support of human rights and in recognition that we are all in this together, as one family.
