About us:Our purpose is to give voice to refugee stories, honor their lives, and raise awareness of the millions of refugees in the world who have been forced to flee their homes. The World Refugee Day Chicago committee comes together each year on or around June 20 to recognize refugees' journeys to their new homes through celebration and education. We are comprised of staff, volunteers and interested persons from various nonprofits focused on welcoming and serving refugees. 2011 committee members:Kara Hook - Pan-African AssociationStephanie Baldwin - Pan-African Association Blair Brettschneider - RefugeeONE Julie Carlsen - Exodus World ServiceKyle Fischler - Catholic CharitiesPeter O'Keefe - Catholic Charities Eli Marsh - Changing Worlds Lea Tienou -Heartland Human Care ServicesSean Lee - Heartland Health Outreach Renae Rowenhorst - Heartland Alliance Dr. Ed Silverman -Illinois Department of Human Services – Bureau of Refugee and Immigrant ServicesLaura Vermette -Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago Dan Amick - Loyola University Chicago John Weatherly - Loyola University ChicagoCharlotte Stroumza - Loyola University Chicago Gabrielle Paris - Loyola University Chicago Emily Feiser - Loyola University Chicago Ramson Warda |
